A website can show you a gym's style. A class shows you how people are treated. If you are choosing where to train, look beyond the loudest claims and pay attention to the everyday details.

Watch how a beginner is coached

Does the instructor explain the movement clearly? Is there room to ask a question? Look for corrections you can understand and use. Being an accomplished athlete and helping someone learn are different responsibilities.

Look at the training partners

Notice how experienced students work with people who are new. Are they listening and controlling the pace? A good training environment depends on the whole group, not only the person leading it.

Discuss your own goals

Tell the coach whether you want to learn Muay Thai, build an active routine or explore competition later. Ask what your first classes will involve. You should not need to adopt someone else's goal to fit in.

Make the practical details work

Consider travel, class times and the routine you can realistically keep. Ask about current fees, equipment and membership terms before committing. Get the answers directly rather than relying on an old screenshot or someone else's experience.

Use a trial to learn about the gym

During your visit, pay attention to the instruction and how you feel asking for help. Afterwards, ask yourself whether you understood the class and want to return. A trial should help you make an informed decision.

Elite Fight Club is in Scarborough and serves students from Markham and across the surrounding area. Our current trial is three classes for $35. Come and see whether our way of training fits what you are looking for.
