When a new combination feels awkward, you have not failed. You have found something you have not learned yet. My job as a coach is to help make the next step clear; your job is to give that step honest attention.

Understand the shape of the movement

Start at a pace where you can notice what your body is doing. Look at your stance, guard and finishing position. Ask your coach to explain the part you cannot feel yet. Rushing can hide the very detail you need to learn.

Use feedback on the next repetition

A correction becomes useful when you try it. Pick one change, practise it and check back with your coach. You do not need a new technique every session to have a productive class.

Add speed without losing your position

As a movement becomes familiar, build the pace under instruction. If your balance or accuracy disappears, slow down again. That is a useful adjustment, not a step backwards.

Give power a solid foundation

Hitting harder is not the only measure of progress. Keeping control of a strike, judging distance and being ready for the next movement all matter. Let your coach guide when and how to increase intensity.

Notice the smaller improvements

Maybe you remembered the combination without stopping. Maybe you brought your guard back more consistently. Those are signs of learning. Keep them in view, especially on days when everything feels slow.
